Ambassadeur 5000 — originalet
The first series is manufactured in Svängsta with chrome-plated brass side plates, red housing and thumb brake. The design is based on the precision of watchmaking — hence the tolerances that made the reel famous.

The drivetrain, brake and bearings are refined in several steps. Red paint and chrome-plated side plates become standard, and exports take off.

A new generation with a redesigned handle and star drag. The reel becomes a volume product in the North American market.

SX, CS and anniversary editions
The sport line further develops the 5000 platform with a faster gear ratio. In 2001, the limited 50th-anniversary edition arrives with engraved side plates.

Retroserier och avslutet
Reissues with retro design aimed at the collector market, ceramic bearings and updated brake plates. On 10 December 2025, the last fishing reel was manufactured at Abu Garcia's factory in Svängsta.
